Sunday’s show was opened by Olive Vox, a Texas-based alt-rock band whose huge energy and stage presence quickly warmed up the crowd. Their music was full of familiar rock-anthem roots and catchy melodies, getting fans moving. Band members played to the crowd, finishing with a fast and heavy song, leaving fans excited to say hello at the merch booth.

Next to the stage was Point North, a Los Angeles-based duo that brought huge energy to the stage and didn’t let up. With the drums off to the side, both the vocalist and the guitarist made full use of the stage, filling the space and entertaining fans. A backing track filled out the sound, but did not overpower the performers. Point North’s sound, self-described as pop-punk alternative, seamlessly blends emo, metalcore, and rap-rock sounds, earning them fans across the country. The Roxian crowd sang and danced along, lining up to meet their favorite musicians at the conclusion of the set.

Finally, Badflower took over. The quartet’s pop-punk/rock sound, catchy melodies, and relatable lyrics had fans crowdsurfing from the first song, and the energy didn’t let up all night. Fan favorite songs were interspersed with stage banter, keeping the crowd singing along. Mid-way through the set, the band showed off their musical skills, leading to a drum solo for Anthony Sonetti.

Following the musical interlude, Singer Josh Katz returned to the stage with a mid-set snack. This tour has been marked by his leaps from the balcony into the pit, with fans eager to catch him. However, Sunday’s show would not feature anything quite so dramatic, which is probably for the best with the Roxian’s architecture. Still, fans were not disappointed as Katz crowdsurfed from the stage and over the heads of almost everyone in the pit. No matter if this was a fan’s first Badflower show or the latest of many, the band will be eagerly welcomed back to Pittsburgh anytime.
