How did the band meet?
Riley and Aidan met at Columbia College during a group assignment in 2016. Once Aidan wanted to start recording for his new project, he asked to record in Riley's bedroom studio, and the writing partnership was born. Once gigs were on the horizon, Mitch was pulled from Riley's other band Overclocked, Jake was nabbed because Aidan knew him from their previous project Face First, and Austin met Aidan at an Overclocked show and joined the band, probably because of all the whiskey that was had during the show. What is the bands favorite song to play live? Missed Me is the favorite, it's so energetic and the crowd response is always amazing. Best song for live play always New Releases? We just released "Something Wicked" with Pavement Entertainment. It's our first full length album and it's our first label release, so we're super excited about it. What is one cause that the band is passionate about? If there's something we love to promote, it's mental health awareness. A lot of our songs have themes of dealing with mental and emotional problems, and though they may sound destructive at times, we're always trying to find ways to deal with these issues in our songs, and promoting awareness of the many aspects of mental health is something we can do with our art. How did the band meet?
They met in a short-lived punk band. Cassandra was one of the writers in that project. Months after it dissolved neither had found another project yet so Philip decided to send Cassandra a track idea to see if they could find some writing synergy. They did. What is the bands favorite song to play live? Varies - we love "Alive", but we get excited about sharing whatever is the newest one too (even though we're new). New Releases? Just released Social Isolation on April 2nd, only available on Bandcamp right now: https://lightshadows.bandcamp.com/track/social-isolation We have a lot more music on deck. What is one cause that the band is passionate about? One thing we believe in is not being limited by genre. We both love a wide variety of music and believe in openness and inclusiveness rather than narrow, walled groups. Anything you would like our followers to know? We have a website, are on most streaming services and cdbaby/bandcamp. We love comments about people enjoying our music: it made them dance or feel less alone. In this scary time of no gigs, and we're even in separate places, all support is greatly appreciated (and we encourage dancing wildly in front of your pets to our music!) How did the band meet?
Harrison was doing a solo project and hiring musicians for shows. Carlo responded to an ad, and they've been great friends ever since. Carlo brought on Nathan and Cuni to the project, and we got in the studio with Allan Hessler. After that it was apparent that we should make a band. Carlo and Nathan were down, while Cuni gracefully bowed out. This allowed us to play with Nathan's brother-in-law Andrew, who went on tour with us to Seattle to play Hempfest. Brendan, Nathan's brother, came with us on that tour on trombone as well. We had a great time on the road, but Nathan decided to step down from bass to do his own project Sake of Sound, a killer jazz funk fusion band playing in West LA. Since Nathan's departure Andrew has been playing bass with us, as well as another cool local band Trapdoor Social, and we've been having Cuni on guitar. Our roster varies depending on schedules so we can play more shows, but this is the set up we typically have. What is the bands favorite song to play live? Completely depends on who you ask on what night. I'd say right now Stepping Out, which is coming out this spring with a huge video we're super proud of, has been feeling pretty tight and natural lately. Sometimes it's nice to let loose the punk side a little more and get after it with Tuck Frump or Adrenaline. Clownin' is always solid too. New Releases? Our next release will be the Stepping Out music video, directed by Adam Fynke, starring Jourdan Miller (America's Next Top Model '14), Charley Rossman (Superbad), and Claire Montgomery. It was an awesome project to work on, and we're so excited to release! After that we'll have another single (not sure which one yet) off our upcoming EP Chillenials, which we'll release this Summer before we go on tour to the UK to play Rebellion Fest. What is one cause that the band is passionate about? Music, friendship, surfing, art, movies, politics, food. Same stuff as you probably. Anything you would like our followers to know? Keep going. It gets better, not easier. Photo By: Maxine Bowen How did the band meet?
I have always had a love for music, ever since I was a small child. My father was in a rock band and taught me a lot, so it’s only fair to put that towards my passion! What is the bands favorite song to play live? My favorite song to play live right now is a now released single, Facade. The song just has such a different feel that makes me just wanna run around stage! New Releases? My new single, Facade, just released! My first EP, EveryBody Wants Me Dead is in the works of being released more towards summer! What is one cause that the band is passionate about? One thing I work towards to remind every person I meet is that they aren’t alone. Everyone goes through something similar at one point in time, and it’s okay to have emotions towards it. I never want anyone to feel alone. Anything you would like our followers to know? I will be working on a small Midwest tour following the release of EBWMD! How did the band meet?
While I (Rob McCall) was finishing my senior year at Le Moyne College, Corey reached out about doing a video project on Syracuse musicians. During that process, we began writing songs together and recorded our first demos that summer. What is the bands favorite song to play live? Tardigrade is always a fun one because it’s so high energy and normally gets people moving. However, we’ve been playing The Corner since we met, and that song has yet to get old. New Releases? We will be releasing Cruel, a drunken waltz about questioning your actions and yourself during the downfall of a relationship, on April 25th. Later this year we will be releasing our anti-romantic epic Wine Song as well as our debut album Occhiolism. What is one cause that the band is passionate about? Mental Health and the issues surrounding it are becoming more visible and more talked about in the general public, yet it continues to feel taboo. We, as artist, want to take on these social stigmas and make talking about mental health more acceptable. Songs like Unidentifed and Life on the Line, are our response to the discussion and issues of the day. Anything you would like our followers to know? Enjoy the ride! Life is pretty damn great, so turn up the music and chase the things you love. How did the band meet?
Cj and Dan started jamming in 2010 playing hard rock songs until they heard In Flames album Sounds of a Playground Fading and that's when the style changed. As the music had grown CJ and Dan knew they wanted to form a band and try to find additional hand members. John Wolff attended a party at a house next to Cj. After a long conversation CJ asked John to come over and jam. Instantly We knew John was the right guy for the band. After several drummers auditioned we finally met up with Matt Biss. (He thought he was auditioning for an iron maiden cover band) instantly he was a perfect fit for our band What is the bands favorite song to play live? The band met through playing in the metal band scene. At one point, Jeff recorded a few video game covers, and Mike asked him to start a band, next thing we knew Kyle was on board and we had a band. What is the bands favorite song to play live? I'd say Mega Man 3 is our favorite to play live. It's a staple in the video game cover community, the songs from the game are great and it always gets a great crowd response. Many say that Mega Man is played out, and it is, but that's because it SLAPS. New Releases? We just released an album of covers from Zombies Ate My Neighbors. We covered the entire soundtrack and it was quite the challenge, but the overwhelmingly positive response thus far has made it totally worth it! Anything you would like our followers to know? We are currently working on growing our YouTube channel (YouTube.com/lamegenie), so please subscribe! You can also find our entire discography of over 150 songs on Bandcamp! How did the band meet?
We (Nathan and Bobby) met in high school, but we didn't really hang out much. What is the bands favorite song to play live? We all have different ones and it's always changing. But some popular favorites are Kill the Sun, Kate Hudson, and Red Eye. New Releases? Hopefully coming this year! (Family Ghost released this past November is out now) What is one cause that the band is passionate about? Healthcare reform. Anything you would like our followers to know? We're a good time live. Come out to a show sometime. How did the band meet?
I met every single one of my members at a show on tour. chronologically I meet Dustin first when i was touring back in 2016 in Albuquerque. He hit me up randomly and talked about filling in a guitarist spot when we were just with 1 guitarist. He didn't actually join the band until Nov 2018. Goes to show that persistence and consistency is how you get the leg up. I met Roy also in 2016 at a fest in Toledo Ohio when he was in a different band. I don't remember meeting him that day but that's how he said we met. I think in early 2017 we had to kick out our drummer and he hit us up and followed up like a pro ever since. I met Kyle 2018 on tour with Blessthefall. He came out to the show early and just barely caught us for our last song on the set. It helped we had a friend in common and that's how he learned of us. Kyle is just a touring member for right now but things are going smooth since his first show with us fall last year. What is the bands favorite song to play live? I think the favorite has to be Better Off Dead. We've changed up our sound quite a bit since our last release. I feel like with the new album on the horizon that this song is a precursor of what our vibe is going to be like. New Releases? We just released our newest single Escape The Feeling. We have been going to a new producer out in Grand Rapids MI named Lee. He's awesome and we enjoy his style and what he's pulling out of the new style we've been cultivating. What is one cause that the band is passionate about? A cause we're passionate about is tough to say. I feel like a band we stand up against so many hardships in our personal lives. Life has a way of kicking you in the face for all the wrong reasons so you need to find a way to stand tall and keep moving or you'll just get swept away in depression or addiction. I find it's hard to stay focused or not get frustrated when the fight for making your life better is filled with so many roadblocks. It's much easier to succumb to the pain and just give up. It's also one of those things you gotta remember that there's always someone worse off than you are and that bitching about it won't solve it. Giving up doesn't stop the suffering it just spreads to those around you. The best cause I can say we strive for is to be a positive force for people out there that need it whether they're truly hurting or hiding behind some act of numbness that prevents. People out there aren't always honest with how they're suffering so they need a different way to see and act almost translated in a way they feel instead of just being told. Anything you would like our followers to know? We hope you guys enjoy our new album. We put a lot of pride in putting our hearts, blood, sweat and tears into our own personal touch of how we go about every day with our music. Thank you for taking the time to read this and listen! <3 |
