Our publisher Cheyenne got to interview with Jonny Andrew of Slow Bloom and here is what transpired!
What was the inspiration behind this EP?
The inspiration behind the EP comes from the struggle to feel balanced and hold it together mentally and emotionally in such a chaotic time. The EP deals with the evils of capitalism, bigotry, nihilistic intrusive thoughts, and depression.
What was your writing process like?
Most of the songs were born from a single riff idea and jammed out to completion during band practice, although I wrote all of Sarcophaguts one rainy day. Jared (drums) actually comes up with quite a few riffs for us to put our spin on.
Do you have any upcoming shows/tours planned for this year?
We have a handful of Bay Area shows on the horizon, and are starting to plan for some tours in the spring and summer.
If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?
KISS, so I can pay tribute to my lord and savior Peter Criss every day. But for real, we’ve been really into Fangclub, Milk Teeth, Great Grandpa, and Wolf Alice. Of course At The Drive-In would be my dream tour though.
If you could give advice to any future musicians who want to start a band what would it be?
Jam with musicians because you like the way they play and write, not so you can dictate what you want them to play. Be open to songs expanding in ways you’d never think up, and have fun.
Lastly, is there anything you would like to tell your fans?
People don’t say it be like it is, but it do.
