How did the band come to be?
We all went to music school together and had played together on different projects, so when it was time for me to start playing some live gigs I turned to my friends, Pedro Asfora on guitar, Vedant Joshi on keys, Maxwell Pierce on bass, and Jake Absher on drums. I’ve worked with my producer, S.Peace Nistades, for some years now. Our first collaboration was on an original song for my fashion film that was screened during LA Fashion Week for my runway debut. We’ve worked together ever since, writing music for my collections and short films for my brand, and now on my music as a musical artist.

Do you have any releases coming up in the new year?
I’ve started working on my next album! I’m so excited for what’s to come later this year. My debut EP ‘Cannibal’ was more synth-based, this new album will be going back to what Peace and I did for my fashion films which was a more retro sound. We have some surprises in store and will combine that retro sound with different techniques to sound more futuristic.

What is something you want listeners to take away from your music?
A mix of playful innocence and dream-like seduction. I like my music to be a form of escapism and excitement for people. Especially during a time like this where we are faced with a worldwide pandemic, it’s important to not only focus on fear but try to stay positive so we can overcome this obstacle.

With everything that is going on in our world what is one cause or organization that you are passionate about?
To address any issue, I believe we need to have a strong foundation, for that reason I’m truly passionate about Earth Alliance. This organization is in response to a growing climate crisis and staggering loss of biodiversity threatening the stability of life on Earth. We all need to take part in taking care of our home.

What is your writing process like?
It varies, but a trick I like to do when faced with writer’s block is write a letter to someone (to myself, a friend, anything or anyone) and look for a common theme within the letter and expand on it.

To follow up with the last question, what inspires your sound?
I’m inspired by French pop, 70’s rock, 80’s pop, and movie soundtracks. I approach my music the same way I design a collection, I always start with a theme or mood which might result in a more 70’s vibe or 80’s depending on the story of the song or album.

Any tours coming up soon?
No tours yet! I’m focusing on creating new content and music this year.

Anything you would like to tell our readers?
We are all in this together and it’s a time to reflect on how we treat each other and hopefully work on compassion. Social distancing perhaps will teach us to not take for granted the people we see and interact with daily. I hope my music can bring you some pleasure and please stay safe!
