How did the band come to be?
The band started in 2016. I met Tex through some mutual friends at university when I needed a guitarist last minute for a small tour and the rest is history there. Kurt and I actually grew up together - there’s photos of us in school when we were kids. We lost touch over high school but came back together through the music scene around home. Ruby is the freshest member. She was playing in another band that was opening for us at a show on the Gold Coast, and it worked out well because we were looking for a new bassist to join.

Do you have any releases coming up in the new year?

Yes! We have a new EP coming out March 20th. It’s called ‘A State of Living in and Objective Reality’.

What is something you want listeners to take away from your music?
Whatever they connect with. The thing I love about songwriting and music is that everyone listens and connects with it in a different way. I love reading comments from people explaining what the songs mean to them, and it’ll be completely different to the situation that inspired me to write the song. It’s really cool.

With everything that is going on in our world what is one cause or organization that you are passionate about?

Something that has hit too close to home is the Australian Fires. A very large portion of our country suffered. People lost their homes and millions of animals were affected. Donating to any of the organisations like Red Cross or the RFS is very important at this time to help rebuild.

What is your writing process like?
The writing process has changed a lot for us over the past few months especially between releases. A lot of the songs on the new EP started with myself in my room with my guitar and then were developed the more we played them all together. But a lot of the newer stuff Kurt and I have been super collaborative on. I think it’s going to be the next step for the sound of the band.
To follow up with the last question, what inspires your sound?

Any tours coming up soon?
We’re just about to finish up a tour with Silversun Pickups, which has been the best time. Everyone is so lovely. After that we’ll be heading to Austin TX for SXSW, and then out on the Sirius XM Advanced Placement tour with Beabadoobee, who’s also one of our favourite artists.

Anything you would like to tell our readers?
Just a big thank you to anyone who’s come to a show or listened to our music over the past couple of months.
