How did the band come to be?
We started the band in 2007 because bassist Torgeir and I (Marius, guitar/vocals) was in another band that wasn’t really going anywhere. We had played with this great drummer Bjørn Tore and done some cover songs live, so we did an audition with him, and he got the gig. We tried out guitarists for a long time, and didn’t find Morten until 2009.

Do you have any releases coming up in the new year?
Nothing to announce right now. But we are working on some new songs. We want to release music more often than we’ve usually done. We love the album format, but you can release music digitally so easily, so we should maybe take advantage of that more.

What is something you want listeners to take away from your music?
I want listeners to get lost in our music, and I want it to mean something to them. I don’t want to be just background music.

With everything that is going on in our world what is one cause or organization that you are passionate about?
I think climate change is very real, and we need to do a lot more than we are. Our latest album is a concept album about a worst case scenario where we do nothing and the world becomes a desolate wasteland. Also the fires in Australia are horrible, they need all the help they can get. We have an organization in Norway called Plan that helps poor kids in different countries in Africa be able to go to school, get clothes and food. That’s a very important one.

What is your writing process like?
It usually starts with a guitar riff, and then we build a song from that. Sometimes we jam and come up with stuff together, but a lot of the time I will make a basic demo with just guitars and Bjørn Tore will program drums. Then we build on it and usually vocals come last.

To follow up with the last question, what inspires your sound?
Bands like Between the Buried and Me, Devin Townsend, Pink Floyd, Nile, Opeth and Chick Korea has been inspiring me lately. Also video games and movies or TV shows.

Any tours coming up soon?
Not any big tours to announce, but we have one off shows coming up around Norway this spring.

Anything you would like to tell our readers?
Hope you will take the time to check out our music on Spotify or Bandcamp. We have a new album out called The Embers of Eternity and I think you will dig it. Thanks for your time!
