Boston-based artist Abigail Ory classifies her music as “weird pop.” Most of her material was written years ago and then later revised with the aid of Ory’s mentor and revered songwriter, Donna Lewis. Abigail writes her own material and fulfills the role as director for her music videos. The singer/songwriter creates personal works that are full of intention and honesty. Her musical influences include MARINA, Violent Femmes, and Grimes. This fact is evident as soon as her songs start playing. Her new song “Waves” was inspired by the book “The Invention of Morel” by author Adolfo Bioy Casares. She initially began composing the track for a dance production in her sophomore year of high school. The pop power ballad spins a message of change, acceptance, and loss that surrounds our relationships. Abigail’s passion shines brightly in “Waves” as the track intertwines her poetic lyrics, soulful vocals, and authentic spirit.
“Feel the wind in my hair and the smoke at my fingertips. / Breathing just to get by is no real way to live, What if when the daybreak comes, / She fades away with the rising sun? Oh, why did I fall in love?” “Feel the salt on my skin and the water starts to drag me in. / This ocean of mine is a treacherous place to swim. And as it starts to reach high tide, / I hope you start to feel alive. Oh, why did I fall in love?” “Waves roll on to the waking light, Stars fade back into the night. / It is there in the morning, I can finally hear you sing.” Connect with Abigail Ory on her social platforms: Website: https://www.ory.info/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abigailoryofficial/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abigailory/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/abigailory Review by: Bri Rodriguez
