Against The Current | Show Review

On April 10th, Against the Current stopped at Chop Shop and 1st Ward in Chicago, IL on their Past Lives tour, in support of their sophomore album ‘Past Lives’, with Chapel and GucciHighWaters opening. It had been a little over two years since the band had last been in Chicago and the members seemed just as ecstatic as the crowd to be back. I personally did not know what to expect from Against The Current, my main driving factor to go to the show was that Chapel was supporting them, however I was pleasantly surprised by the band’s performance. With the band’s energy and enthusiasm I couldn’t help but find myself dancing along while in the photographing them. Though it was a Wednesday, the vibe from the show almost made it like a Saturday night, laid back, yet energetic, they even spun the disco ball that hangs in the venue. Towards the end of their set they played a stripped down version of ‘Running With the Wild Things’ which was a solemn moment for the room before finishing off their set with Another You (Another Way)
