Salt Lake City based indie alternative band Brother. share a reassuring piece of advice in calming new track “EZ”. Like many other artists, the band had big plans for 2020, but the pandemic changed all of that, which took a heavy toll on them. It led them to reevaluate their art and their approach to overcoming the personal obstacles they faced throughout lockdown. Together they realized that maybe the solution to the anxiety and uncertainty they were facing in their career, was simply to slow things down and take it easy on themselves, which is something I think a lot of us felt at some point or another over the last year.

The dreamy, soothing vibe of the song, paired with the thoughtful lyrics felt authentic and sincere, reminding us that we need to take it easy sometimes and give ourselves room to breathe and process what we’re experiencing. Like a scene from an indie film, I pictured myself laying on a blanket in the grass, on a sunny, breezy day, looking up at the sky as the clouds pass by and I felt more at peace than I have in a long time. “EZ” serves as a reminder that things will get better as time moves along, but in the meantime, we need to take some time to realign ourselves, take it easy, and make the most of the journey ahead.
