On Friday July 19, The Australian pop outfit Chase Atlantic made their Detroit stop on their “Phases” tour with the help of Fort Wayne Native Lauren Sanderson. What ensued was a night of energetic performances, screaming fans and good music.
Coming off the heels of her 2019 EP “Hasta La Vista” , Sanderson is riding a wave of anticipation for her next full length project. Opening the night with more energy than a full band Sanderson took to the stage playing songs ranging from her newest effort all the way to her debut album “Spaces .” Perhaps one of the most well revived openers I’ve seen all year, the pop/rap renegade had the crowd singing word for word. Going to a Chase Atlantic show is an experience. Yes the band sounds amazing musically. They have hundreds of screaming fans and put on an amazing show, but the one thing they have down to a science is atmosphere. Starting with a towering drum solo from drummer Jesse Boyle, the build up led into an absolutely stunning rendition of the first track “Angels” off their 2019 album of which the tour was named “Phases.” Boldly deciding to not have a front facing spotlight and only dark colored back lights, along with amazing smoke effects, the atmosphere fit the mood perfectly. Playing “Phases” in its entirety along with a few older tracks for their long term fans Chase Atlantic proved with this tour that they are an act that needs to be taken seriously. If you haven’t made it out to their show yet we highly recommend it. You can get tickets here at https://chaseatlantic.com Review/Photo By Daaron Donohue IG: @bando.bombers
