As a part of Underoath’s Erase Me tour, Dance Gavin Dance played an unforgettable show in Arizona. California band Dance Gavin Dance is band unlike most I’ve ever seen before. On paper, Dance Gavin Dance is solid rock band. But in real life, the group is uncharacteristically charming and play oddly dance-able music. Dance Gavin Dance has almost always had an experimental sound. Each member of the band brings a unique element to the group that keeps listeners on their toes. This idea transfers extremely well to the stage. The band does not look cohesive in the slightest, but it works for them. Their different styles and tastes is what sets them apart. The band was very fun to watch. Charismatic clean vocalist Tilian Pearson danced the night away on stage. He was radiating positive energy and the audience was feeding off of it. The sets before Dance Gavin Dance were dark and heavy. Dance Gavin Dance, however, brought much needed light to the venue. While their songs are a blend of soothing melodies and harsh unclean vocals, the set they played had a groovy vibe. The concert was more bliss than their records seem to suggest. Dance Gavin Dance is paving their own way in the alt-rock world. They are sure to entertain anyone who watches them. You can catch Dance Gavin Dance playing all over the U.S. in the new year!
