Jen Janet is a mighty force to be reckoned with. She has explored the creative avenues of fashion, modeling, and photography. Musical endeavors include the 2017 release of her pop-oriented EP “Dangerous” as a solo artist, and the fulfillment of roles as lead vocalist and songwriter for progressive rock act Mimesis and gothic metal band Novarium.
A distinct shift in style is established in Janet’s new solo material, unveiling a powerful, darker sound that features symphonic elements, dynamic instruments, and an intense infusion of rock and electronics. Janet’s single “Possession” adopts an atmospheric quality that is supported with eerie choir vocals and poignant lyrics that illustrates the desire to escape a toxic relationship, break away the chains, and be your own person, free from the expectations of others: “Can you take back my demons? I don’t want them anymore / “I don’t belong to you”. The composition is reminiscent of artists like Evanescence and Within Temptation, complete with synthesizers, illuminating hooks, and an orchestration that blends intricately with Janet’s captivating vocal delivery. This haunting track evokes a cinematic feel and pulls back the curtain, showcasing Janet’s tenacious spirit and her growth as a solo rock artist.
“Possession” was released today July 8, 2020.
