K.Flay show review

I have been a K.Flay fan for around three years, but unfortunately have continually missed out on my opportunities to see her. Luckily for me, she brought her Solutions tour to the Town Ballroom in Buffalo this past Saturday, so I was able to catch her.

Opened by Your Smith (alternative/indie, for fans of Lizzo and Donna Missal), and Houses (indie rock, for fans of Washed Out), K.Flay captivated her audience with her constant movement and unique stage setup. She was accompanied by three risers that contained LED’s, which added another level to the visual aspect of the performance. She played around 20 songs, and while they were mostly from her most recent albums, the crowd seemed to have no issue with this. In addition to this, she did play a few deeper cuts, singing the likes of So Fast, So Maybe from her self titled EP, along with Can’t Sleep and Make Me Fade from her first album Life As A Dog. She also sang a stripped down cover of Liz Phair’s Fuck & Run.

Those inside the Town Ballroom roared as K.Flay ended her show, playing an encore consisting of Sister and Blood In The Cut. She gave a smile and a wave as she left the stage, leaving a completely different energy in the room compared to before she set foot on the stage. I really really enjoyed this show. I have yet to see an artist with the kind of energy and joy that K.Flay shows during her performances. K.Flay may be my new favorite artist to see live, so if you can make it out to this tour, I would definitely wouldn’t miss out.
