Neck deep playing at Westcott Theater

Taking a small break from their arena tour with Blink-182, Welsh five piece Neck Deep have been playing some intimate shows along the East Coast. I caught them when they stopped at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY. Opened by The Same Page (pop punk, for fans of early Tonight Alive and All Time Low) and Taking Meds (Post-Hardcore/Punk, for fans of Dismemberent Plan), Neck Deep’s set contained 16 songs, spanning from Happy Judgement Day to What Did You Expect? to new single, She’s A God. Singer Ben Barlow learned part way through the set that they would not be performing an encore, and told the crowd. When the set ended, the crowd chanted for one more song until the band appeared on the stage for an unplanned encore.

They closed out the night with Lime St., with drummer Dani Washington crowd surfing at the tail end of the song. I definitely enjoyed this show a lot. Going into it, I did not have a lot of experience with Neck Deep. I was not a regular listener, and had never seen them perform. They put on an amazing performance, so lively and full of energy. I am very excited for when they come around again.
