Gemini Syndrome is an alternative metal band out of Los Angeles, California. They are the opening band on the Half God Half Devil tour this spring. Before the show started I talked with some of the people around me, most of them had never seen Gemini Syndrome live but said that they would compare their sound to the band Disturbed. As the show started the house went from dull to hype in .01 seconds. Although Gemini Syndrome only had a short set they rocked every minute of it. After the show drummer Brian Steele Medina came off stage and into the crowd and gave out stamps and took photos with those in the crowed. The band just released their second album Memento Mori this past August, promising a heavier sound then previously before.

Coming all the way from Sweden for this tour is Avatar. Avatar is a melodic death metal band from Göteborg, Sweden. Before that night I never heard of Avatar, but they soon became my newest obsession. You could tell only minutes into the show that vocalist Johannes Eckerström put his everything into the show every night. The show they put on was sick, you could see in each members face that they loved being up there every night rocking the stage. The crowed was nothing less than hyped the whole set, making me feel good to be a part of Avatar country for the night. Avatar is currently up for best breakthrough band at the Alternative Press Music Awards this July; I voted, did you?

This probably isn’t the first time you’ve heard of Motionless In White and I doubt it’ll be the last. Motionless In White is a metalcore band from Scranton, Pennsylvania. This is the second tour so far of 2017 and the second time they rocked Pittsburgh. MIW gives off this vibe that makes you feel like you can do anything. I have seen MIW multiple times but each of those times was before the parted ways with their keyboardist Josh Balz, so as anyone else might be I was skeptical with how the show would turn out without him. On their previous tour they had Marie-Christine (IG:missmary666) fill in the missing place and she rocked every show with the same passion he once did. But this past show I did not see her or anyone else play keys, maybe I missed it or maybe they haven’t found someone to fill the spot yet. During the show they played two songs off their upcoming album Graveyard shift due to release May 5th, which you can preorder at the concert and with every preorder you get an autographed poster of the band. Motionless InWhite is also up for most dedicated fanbase at this years APMAs.

In This Moment was the headlining band of this tour, In This Moment is a metalcore band based out of Los Angeles, California. This was my first time seeing ITM live and to be honest I only knew one song, which is no doubt one of their more famous songs ‘Whore’. Although I didn’t know every song on their set list I did enjoy seeing everyone in the crowd sing along with Maria Brink. Maria puts on quite a show not only with her music but with her beautiful wardrobe changes and dancers. Throughout the entire hour and a half they were on stage there was never a dull moment as you might expect it takes a minute to change in and out of outfits so while Maria was changing the boys would play different rhythms together. Half way through the show Maria stopped to introduce the crowed to each member or the band and to thank everyone for coming out to the show that night when “they could be anywhere else in the world but decided to spend their own hard earned money to be with them tonight.” For their last song they played their famous song Whore and the crowed went nuts, even the other photographers in the pit were singing along and having a great time. There is no doubt that Maria Brink made Pittsburgh her whore that night.
