Post-hardcore band Same Gods have released the single “Remission” from their upcoming debut album “Worried Eyes”, which drops on July 10, 2020. The quartet originates from New York, with a lineup that consists of: Jon Davis (vocals), Brendon Flynn (guitar), Shane Conzone (bass), and Steve Sopchak (drums). This song established a strong foundation for the band and set everything in motion, providing both inspiration and the necessary momentum to push forward and reach their goals as a group. All of the members are experienced musicians who have pursued different routes within the industry, working alongside other bands and fulfilling roles in writing, producing, and touring. Their diverse backgrounds proved beneficial once the timeline finally aligned for them to join forces and form the project that would become Same Gods. Sonically, the single invokes a sense of nostalgia as it feels like a time capsule that has traveled back to the 90’s era of grunge and alternative rock, with a sound complementary to bands such as Helmet, Soundgarden, and Thrice. This track expresses an earnest cry out for answers, a sensation of being haunted by a ghost-like emptiness, and a search for more purpose in life. Melodic riffs, melancholic harmonies, and emotive lyrics stand out in “Remission”, providing a poignant sample of what is yet to come from their anticipated debut release: “Searching for some sign of life / And my head keeps spinning, through the life in plastered eyes / Like a cold world satellite”.
