On February 22nd, Sidney Bird released her new single and music video ‘Brooklyn Baby’. Her previous track ‘Renaissance Man’ received a lot of praise and success on TikTok, making her fans eager for more, and Sidney Bird delivered!
Sidney Bird was born and raised in Arizona but is now making a name for herself in New York City. She holds her own in the western pop scene, alongside artists like Kacey Musgraves and Leon Bridges. While Bird is working with producers in Brooklyn, she says to feel a strong creative impulse when home in Arizona and writing all of her songs there.
‘Brooklyn Baby’ came out February 22nd and Sidney was super excited to share it: ‘I wrote Brooklyn Baby a couple days after moving to New York. I felt so grown up in my new apartment, but part of me also felt super scared of how ‘old’ I was getting. I sat down with my guitar and wrote this song; it’s about self-reflection and growing up’.
It’s safe to say that Sidney Bird got the message across very well, not just through her lyrics but through the melody as well. When listening to it, it builds up a certain feeling in your chest, almost nostalgic but also wary of what is to come. But it’s nothing to be scared of, as Bird says in the single “we’ve all been there”. It’s comfort and relatable feelings put together in one song, it’s like a fluffy blanket on a cold day.
Sidney Bird is a remarkable artist and with every release she proves just how strong her songwriting skills and vocals really are. With her dream-like vocals in the single, Sidney shares her own insights about her life and her journey to where she is now. The feeling of having difficulties with being able to accept that you are growing up and life is changing really shines through with the sweet vocals and the strong lyrics.
All in all, Sidney Bird is a very strong vocalist and writer and she has proved it once again. She is an artist to keep your eyes on.
