If you like both Mark Hoppus and Alex Gaskarth from arguably two of the best pop punk bands of all time, then you’re going to love their new band, Simple Creatures. This past Friday, Simple Creatures released an EP called “Strange Love,” and it’s everything that pop-punk is supposed to be. Upon first listen, “Drug,” the first song off of the EP, sounds a little bit like “Everything is Fine,” by All Time Low, which makes it undoubtedly one of my favorite songs off of this record. The lyrics off of the EP are what makes it so magical. They give off this summertime vibe and are perfect for driving with the windows down while the radio is on full blast. They sound like something you’d hear off of “Last Young Renegade” or “Future Hearts” mixed with a little bit of Blink’s newest album “California.” Hoppus and Gaskarth have been doing shows around the US to kick off their debut as Simple Creatures, and have said that a full-length album will probably be coming after the release of an All Time Low album sometime in the near future. “Strange Love” is available on streaming platforms everywhere, but if you’d like a physical copy, head on over to the band’s website to get yours today!
