TERRORBYTE | Show Review

After almost a year of radio silence, anonymous Syracuse outlet TERRORBYTE returned to local venue The Lost Horizon for a special Halloween show. The show was opened by a few other local acts, such as DramaScream (hard rock, for fans of Halestorm or Breaking Benjamin), Out Last (metalcore, for fans of Currents or Ice Nine Kills), and With Malice in Heart (metal, for fans of August Burns Red or Chelsea Grin).

TERRORBYTE brought a kind of energy to the stage that I hadn’t previously seen at The Lost. The barricade to the photo pit was frequently being bumped from the almost constant moshing. Along with their lively performance, they added a great visual aspect with their light show. The lights were either very heavy, or non existent. An array of colors was cast over The Lost Horizon that night.

The four piece carried two hype men with them, who jumped around their entire set, adding another level to the energetic aspect of their performance. Their masks differed from the reflective style the band members sported. They seemed to have been styled after a crow’s head. Throughout the entire set, these two were diving off the stage, joining the mosh pit, crowd surfing. Anything they could to add to the energy of the room. I felt that having these two really added a fun, almost unpredictable aspect to the set, as I could never anticipate what they would do next.

The show ended with their bassist smashing his bass into the ground repeatedly, until it was in pieces. Some of those in the crowd managed to sneak up and grab some of the smashed bits. All around, It was a very good show. The band has an upcoming single, Boogeyman, featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills. You can keep up with them at the links below, to see when that will be released.
