It’s hard to believe that The Anniversary’s Designing a Nervous Breakdown came out 20 years ago. The band gave fans what they’d been waiting for, playing the album from beginning to end, followed by an encore of hits like Sweet Marie. Unlike a lot of bands playing albums in full for the sake of nostalgia, this felt different. It felt and sounded like they never stopped touring. The chemistry and dynamic on stage were infectious.

Reunion shows like this show how even a band with a career that only went two albums deep, can be reignited with the spark that got them started in the first place. Whether it’s the passing of time, maturity, or taking a stroll through memory lane, it’s almost fitting that a band called The Anniversary would wait this long to bring back their unique style of emo, rock, or whatever you want to call it, for this special anniversary.
