Wilderun is a progressive metal band based out of Boston, MA. In 2019, the band released their third studio album, “Veil of Imagination,” before signing with Century Records. The LP is now scheduled for re-release on July 17, 2020. This record is a
complex opus that intrigues with its transcending twists and turns, commanding the listener’s attention from start to finish. Multiple tracks surpass the 8 minute time mark, with the opening track “The Unimaginable Zero Summer” being the lengthiest composition, clocking in around 14 1/2 minutes. This work of art showcases the band’s musical capabilities as all of the members have established roots in the Berklee College of Music. Arrangements include spoken word, acoustic guitar, and cello, building in gradual intensity before progressing full force in chaotic energy. The band incorporates an array of other instruments, including piano, flutes, and harps, to produce sounds that are rarely ever heard in metal. The LP features a collection of harsh growls, raging guitar riffs, cinematic instrumentals, and calm, atmospheric soundscapes. Every song flows naturally with a sense of brilliant elegance. Beautiful and fierce, “Veil of Imagination” delivers intense compositions that sweep the listener off their feet as they embark on an otherworldly journey, combining the strengths of dynamic orchestration and progressive metal.
