(New York, New York - February 22, 2021) - Brooklyn based alt-pop band Record Heat (fka Spirit Animal) announce the release of their new EP, 1, out March 12th via The Orchard. The 3 track EP will include the band's previously released tracks "Just Hits" and "Nathan" along with closer, "Network," co-written with mega-producer, Nolan Lambroza. Record Heat will also be releasing a limited edition NFT, making them one of the first bands to experiment with cryptoart dedicated to bringing fans a unique artistic experience.
"The creative process for our new logo opened our eyes to new visual art styles and techniques, which in turn led us to begin exploring the cryptoart space. Now, after witnessing the explosive growth of this movement through quarantine, we've decided to make our first piece. Popular artists like RAC, Blau, Zack Fox, and Mike Shinoda have experimented with NFTs, but we've come up with a new use case. Instead of making a standard album cover for '1', we collaborated on a 27-second, hyperreal audio-visual loop where our cover art can 'physically' exist digitally. This is accompanied by music from "Nathan," one of the songs on the EP. Since we can't sell CDs -- both because there's no touring and, generally speaking, because of streaming -- this feels like an exciting new way to re-commodify cover art as something fans can own. We're always looking for unique ways to merge art and commerce, and this time we're doing it while educating people about this new artist-sustaining, digital marketplace," the band says. 2019 found Record Heat earning fans so rabid that many got tattoos of the band's lyrics. Their debut album Born Yesterday had struck a chord and they toured relentlessly behind it, supporting bands as diverse as Fitz & the Tantrums, Incubus, The Struts, and White Reaper. As the record continued to gain traction, the opportunity for a deluxe edition arose, hence REBORN YESTERDAY. All of the other original tracks remained, but two new songs-"HYRD8" and "Arm Candy"-were added, plus a stripped-down acoustic take on the first single "YEAH!" Record Heat has received major attention from a variety of high profile media outlets, including Consequence of Sound, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post, Billboard, Alternative Press, Ones To Watch and Pop Dust. Now the band is ready to bring the heat with the release of their new EP, 1, that's sure to make fans sweat.
